Summer of Love
© 2007 by Michael Domino
Nineteen sixty seven
Hippie’s heaven.
Summer of love
Vietnam bombs above.
Campus strife
Loss of life.
Forty long years
Of undried tears.
Here’s a new day
Still bombs away.
But we’re so quiet
Where’s all the riot.
Thousands at rest
Scarcely any protest.
Rich boy leaders
Hardly world readers.
Leary’s Psychedelic
Long gone 60’s relic.
The CIA’s secret drug
Swept power under a rug.
Wars a hungry shark
Where’s today’s spark
To ignite mind- altering fire
Extinguish this generations dire.
