The Sneakers

I am beginning to see things sneaking up on me.
I must be very careful.
There are too many shirts in my closet again.
The presents I received are taking up shelf space
where shelves were once empty,
and my cupboards are getting stocked with ingredients
I thought I might need for the future.
My laundry now takes two loads instead of one,
and I'm collecting CDs and music and videos.
The cable company keeps calling me
to install the three-pack TV, Internet, and phone service,
but I’ve been stalling them for three months now.
I must be very careful
or the sneakers will get me again.
Note to self:
Tomorrow fill up a few black plastic bags with stuff
and bring them to the church.
