Picasso and the Cannibal
I tell you tonight that I cooked the most beautiful food—
sesame encrusted tuna done black-and-blue style,
served with home-made home fries, cooked with the
deepest of all green peppers, and seasoned with garlic
and onions.

The tuna’s center had the most vibrant, translucent
maroon color, and I made sure to just sear the edge
white hot against the bluish-black sesame seeds.

My Dollar Store plate was another work of art mingling
with my perfect edible creation. It was so alive with
grapes and a tomato and a strawberry and all sorts of
color-laden brush strokes. No wonder it was in the Dollar
Store… it was too artistic for JC Penny.

So this was really an artful experience. It was beautiful,
so beautiful that it had to be consumed and eaten. Now it’
s all in my stomach, all this beauty and perfection—less
the plate. I tell you, had I not eaten it, it would not have
looked out of place on the best of museum walls. But I
ate it and that is that.
